12 Essential Pieces of Camping Equipment You Need

The 2021 camping season is almost here, and we know you’re excited to travel in your RV and camp out away from all your problems. However, it is important to prepare and make sure you have all the proper camping equipment. You want to be prepared for every possible situation you may face to make sure this camping season goes off without a hitch. Here are some practical items you need while camping this year!

Electrical Management System/Surge Protector

This is probably the most important piece of RV camping equipment you can have and is not something you should skimp on. One of these devices will protect you from power surges, brownouts, or incorrectly wired pedestals which could potentially harm every electronic device in your RV and completely total it. One of these is a very worthwhile investment to protect your RV from power surges.

Wi-Fi & Cell Phone Booster

Boost your cell phone service and Wi-Fi signal with one of these amplifiers. This will allow you to still access Wi-Fi and cell service even when you are far away from the signal. This is very handy in remote locations where getting a signal or internet connection can be extremely difficult.

Water Pressure Regulator

An RV park’s water pressure can be too strong and burst a pipe in your RV, causing it to flood. This can be disastrous and cause massive flood damage. Save yourself this pain by buying and installing a water pressure regulator to ensure the water pressure entering your RV stays just right.

Water Filter

When you are traveling, you may hook up to a variety of different water systems, some of which may not have the cleanest water. This is why it is critically important to have a good water filtration system to make sure your drinking water is clean.

Shore Power Cord

Make sure to have a quality shore power cord to bring electricity into your RV. If you use a regular extension cord you run the risk of starting a fire at the worst, and at the least it won’t be able to bring in enough electricity to run your RV properly.

Sewer Hose

Make sure to buy a good sewer hose to ensure everything goes down the toilet correctly. Obviously, no one wants to deal with the mess if it doesn’t.

Levelers & Chocks

No one wants to sleep at an angle, so having a leveler is important for your comfort. Not only that, being at an angle can damage certain RV appliances like absorption fridges. Similarly, chocks are absolutely necessary to make sure your RV doesn’t roll away when you are parked.

Hitch Lock for Travel Trailers

Having a solid hitch lock is important so that no one drives away with your beautiful new travel trailer. Make sure you get one that is 100% secure to guard against theft.

Replacement Fuses

You definitely don’t want to blow a fuse and be stranded without a replacement. Having an assortment of different fuses will ensure that you have the right amperage rating to fix the one that has blown out.

Tool Set & Head Lamp

A good tool set and head lamp are a must have for any RV emergency you might face. If you are in a remote location and something breaks or goes wrong in the middle of the night, you will be very thankful to have these things on hand.

Tire Pressure Monitoring System & Air Compressor

Make sure to have a good tire pressure monitoring system and air compressor. This way you know that your tire pressure is low before it is a major issue. People often opt out of getting a tire pressure monitoring system and regret it later when they unexpectedly end up with a flat tire.

Battery Jumper

If your battery dies you will be very happy to have a battery jumper and not have to wait for another vehicle to come jump you. Make sure to get the right size battery jumper for large vehicles.

Hopefully, you are prepared for this camping season and have all the right camping equipment. While camping, it is important to be prepared for every possible situation and emergency to make sure you don’t end up stranded in a broken-down RV.
